Hello AWG Team!
We have started three new clients! All of them are already in love with the Age With Grace team! Phyllis’s daughter called and said Jennifer is the perfect fit! She was so excited and thanked us for listening to their needs and finding the perfect fit! She said her Dad is still resistant to care (which is very common for a new client) but she and her mom love Jennifer so much and said she is staying no matter what!
Sheila and her children are so happy with Lilly’s care and for Age With Grace for making this happen for their family!
Sharon called and asked for a schedule change but was very clear she wanted to keep Jamie, she loves Jamie and asked that we tell her how much she loves her!
Tonia is a huge part of making the schedule work for these families. Putting the right caregiver with the right family often requires moving chess pieces around to make things right for everyone! She does it with love, care, and concern for the family, the caregiver, and AWG as a whole!
Thank you for all your efforts!
I came across this information and want to pass it on as many of you are helping your client bathe. We have all experienced the resistant bather!
. Please share something that has worked for you to get your client in the shower!
Bathing is a basic and essential part of personal hygiene and health. However, as people grow older, some of them may start to resist or avoid taking a shower. Despite the reasons that may make the elderly reluctant to bathe, it’s essential to bathe regularly. Bathing not only helps seniors stay clean but also offers the following benefits.
- Ease stiff joints and pain
- helps them sleep faster and better.
- Improve their mental well-being.
- Reduce swelling and inflammation in your feet or ankles.
In addition to persuading them with some of these benefits and reducing their fears, make sure they have the aids that make them feel safe and secure, a shower chair, grab bars, towels placed to prevent slipping and maybe reminding them that their favorite treat or activity is waiting for them when they are finished bathing! Sometimes a little ice cream at the end will make it worth it!
Happy St Patrick’s Day on Monday!
I leave you with an Irish blessing
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Have a great rest of March, Spring is here!
Sincerely wishing you all the best,
Tanna and Wendy
